And I'm obsessed with good design.
The task of writing a bio always leaves me a bit stumped. I’m not sure if it is because, like so many people, the idea of trying to ‘market your skills’ is a task I always find daunting and wanting to shy away from. Or perhaps it is because when people ask “What do you do?”, I never know quite how to respond.
The answer. I wear many hats. The importance or significance of these hats are constantly changing as I navigate through life. So what are my hats… I’m a designer, landscape architect, mother, entrepreneur, florist, consultant, project manager, cad monkey, wife, counsellor, business manager, the list goes on… But right now I’m focusing on landscape architect, designer and mother.
People have often asked me… “What is a landscape architect?”, “Is that a type of architect?” Or “You’re just a gardener right?” A landscape architect does many things, but put simply, a landscape architect designs the space between buildings. Landscape Architecture is the blending of art and environmental science. So, whilst the role of a gardener and garden designer are important and add value, landscape architects are so much more. Landscape architects often focus and specialise on a vast scope of specialties. My focus as a landscape architect is to really understand people. Understand how people interact in their environment and how best to design and create a space that is going to allow people to thrive in their environment.
My love of design and passion to create spaces and environments for people to thrive in doesn’t stop here. It goes beyond the realms of the landscape. Having also studied at the Enmore Design Centre, I am passionate about the visual and virtual world we find ourselves in every day. I have had the pleasure of working with different businesses to create and build on their branding and marketing from web design and logo design to social media marketing and product design and marketing.
To sum up. I am obsessed with good design. I would be honoured to work with you to help you to achieve your design outcomes in whatever way I can. From landscape design to graphic and web design.
